At the beginning of the summer, I felt the exhilaration of entrepreneurship. Launching my new planner business was thrilling. I had been working so hard for this! But after the launch month, I crashed hard and I still had real estate clients that I was working with that were also very demanding on top of being a stay at home mom and the duties that include.
I was drained in every capacity. I couldn’t think of new ideas, I was exhausted, and making any kind of business decision was out of the question.
The real estate industry alone brings its own kind of burnout, especially with particularly difficult clients or transactions.
If this is you or has been you at some point, I get it. I’m right there with you, my friend!
So let’s get down to business and discuss how to overcome burnout when a trip to the beach or the mountains isn’t an option.
My first go-to is journaling. This helps to clear my mind and get everything out on paper. Problems seem smaller when they’re out in the open and not living rent free in my head.
Listening to a podcast can be a refreshing break. I’m talking about fun, entertaining, relatable, and spiritual podcasts that don’t drain you.
Exercise is essential for clearing your mind and rejuvenation. It could be a jog, walk, or bike ride—anything to help you reflect.
Eating healthy is often overlooked when we’re busy or overwhelmed. We reach for fast food or sugary treats, but neglecting our bodies isn’t helpful. Good nutrition supports our mental, physical and emotional health.
Reading a fun book is a great escape. I don’t always have time, but when I do, it’s my go-to for relaxation.
Lunch with a good friend is always a good idea for talking, connecting, and enjoying friendship.
I am the kind of person that likes to be in control or at least have a plan. Is this you too? I try to avoid burnout whenever possible and figure out what caused my burn out and what I can change for the future to prevent again.
Here are some systems to help:
When I’m burnt out, social media is the first thing to go on my priority. Having a content bank ready for those times is a good way to plug & play when the inspiration and creative juices stop. Have the photos & captions ready to go and scheduled out.
It takes effort, but it’s worth it to keep your business running during busy seasons or when you need to rest.
With real estate clients, setting firm boundaries and expectations up front to ensure that they aren’t running the show is also a good idea.
If life & business get overwhelming, team up with another trusted agent to help share the workload. Yes, it might mean less pay, but it protects your sanity and ensures clients get great service.
Have an email nurture system in place for prospective clients. During the summer and holiday season, everyone is busy as it is, so prep & schedule out fun and engaging emails to send to your database while you relax at a beach or play board games with your family.
Using my tried and true Mompreneur Planner can really help stay on top of your game and help you stay organized and in control even during the crazy seasons of. motherhood and real estate.
I know being an mompreneur can be tough. I am in the trenches with you raising my family and building my business but with a little extra prepwork of creating systems, we can get ahead of the game a little bit and enjoy more time with our families.
You’ve got this mama!
