Spring Cleaning for the Mompreneur: Your Home, Your Business & Your Mind

Spring is my favorite time of year. The flowers are blooming, the sun stays out a little longer, and there's this collective exhale like the whole world is waking back up. And every single year, without fail, I get the urge to open every drawer, every closet, every forgotten corner of my home and just purge.

If you're nodding along, you're in good company, mama.

But here's what I've learned as an entrepreneurial mom: spring cleaning isn't just about your house. It's about your whole life, your routines, your business, your digital space, and honestly, your mental load.

Why Clutter Hits Moms Differently

Back in 2023, I made a shift in my home toward minimalism. Not the extreme "white walls and one fork" kind, but the intentional kind. The kind where I stopped letting stuff accumulate just because it was easier to shove it in a drawer than deal with it.

Here's the truth: clutter takes up mental space. Research backs this up and it affects women disproportionately because we tend to carry more of the cognitive load at home. The mess in the corner isn't just a mess. It's a mental to-do list that never goes away.

As a mompreneur, your energy is precious. You don't have the bandwidth to "do it all," and you shouldn't have to. So one of the best gifts you can give yourself is a home that doesn't drain you the moment you walk in.

How to Spring Clean Your Home (Mompreneur Style)

Start slow. Don't try to overhaul everything in a weekend. Pick one drawer, one closet, one room. Go through it and be a little more ruthless than usual. Ask yourself: Does this serve my family right now? Do we actually use this? If not, donate, toss, or sell.

And when you restock, be intentional. Be slow to bring new things in. Make space for what actually matters: your family, your business, and a home that feels like a sanctuary.

Spring Clean Beyond the House

Once you've tackled the physical clutter, turn your attention to these four areas:

  1. Your daily routines. Look at how you're starting and ending your day. Where are you losing time? What can be streamlined or batched?
  2. Your kids' chore charts. Have they outgrown what they're doing? Can they take on a little more responsibility to lighten your load? Yes, even toddlers can help!
  3. Your business operations. What's inefficient? What's been on your "I'll deal with that later" list? Now is the time. Review your systems, your client process, your content workflow.
  4. Your digital files. A messy desktop, a bloated email inbox, a disorganized Google Drive all create real mental stress. Spend an hour sorting, deleting, and organizing and you'll feel lighter immediately.

Your Planner Is Your Secret Weapon

This is exactly why I designed the Mompreneur Planner. It gives you a place to map out your routines, set your monthly focus, and actually execute your goals with intention. If you haven't grabbed yours yet, now is a great time to start fresh for spring.

Here's to a season of clarity, intention, and a junk drawer that finally stays clean. 🌸
