Get your Time Back: Streamline Your Week as a Mompreneur

Feeling inspired this am to share some tips and ideas on how you can take back A LOT more hours in your week as a mom and business owner

    1. Batch plan your meals for the week. Try to plan similar foods to batch cook as much as you can.

Ex: Tacos - bulk cook the meat and then use the rest of the meat for burrito bowls as another meal a few days later.

Another example: grill a bunch of chicken, have fresh grilled chicken one night and then freeze for casseroles, enchiladas for later.

    2. Grocery pick-up/ delivery. While you are planning your meals, add the ingredients to your online cart. Have a “master grocery list” of typically recurring items you get from the store on your phone so you aren’t trying to remember the basics of what you need. Ex: Eggs, bread, fruit, veggies, peanut butter, milk…

    3. Waking up before your kids. I know this is so hard, and may not even be possible if you are still in the sleepless night phase. But if you have older kids, consider waking up even an hour before them to get a jump start on your day, quiet time, or some uninterrupted working time before the chaos starts.

    4. Time block. Time-blocking can be as rigid or as loose as your lifestyle. You can time block down to the 30min-hour or have “sections” of your day that are designated to different tasks. I like to section out my day between “work, family, personal, home” so I know when I can do related tasks so my mind isn’t bouncing around from category to category all day everyday. It helps my mind from being exhausted.

    5. Use an online organization system like trello, monday, etc. I use Meistertask for my home and business. This is a whole other post. But you get the idea. Digitize your backend systems for home and business..

    6. Hire a maid. Honestly this seems like a luxury for a lot of people, but also think of the opportunity cost. What takes my house cleaner 1 hour takes me 3. 3!! I get 3 hours of working time, and my mental health is immediately increased because my house is lighter, and they just crossed off a bajillion items off my list. Do what makes sense for you. We do a maid once a month and I do the maintenance in between.

    7. Have your kids help with the chores. Assign age appropriate chores for your kids to help and pull their weight around the house. Let them help you in your business with age appropriate assignments and pay them for it. (talk with your CPA about using this as a tax strategy)

    8. Don’t neglect your health! Daily walks, keep hydrated, take your multivitamins. Your business and family doesn’t run without you, so take care of your body!
