Don’t tell me I was the only one that looked at my goals for 2026 and realized 3 months have gone by and I was heading a little off track of where I wanted to be since writing them in January…
If this is you as well, don’t be discouraged. April is not a report card, it doesn’t predict the rest of the year’s success, it is an opportunity for a reset.
The Busy Trap That Is Easy To Fall Into
Here is something that does not get said enough in the entrepreneurship world: being busy is not the same as making progress.
We have convinced ourselves, especially us moms who are building businesses while raising families and managing households and showing up for our communities, that if we are moving we must be headed somewhere. But motion without direction is just exhaustion with a to do list.
There have been many seasons in my entrepreneurial journey where I have been working in every crack of the day.. working early in the morning, during nap time and late at night. I was giving everything I had. And at the end of every week I could not really tell you what I had accomplished. I just knew I was tired.
I had ideas everywhere. Notes in my phone, sticky notes on my desk, a running list in my head that never actually got shorter. I was always thinking about my business but I was never really leading it. I was just trying to keep up with what others were doing around me, or what I “thought” I should be doing.
And the end result? I started to resent (at that point) my real estate business a little. This thing I had built because I loved it was starting to feel like just another thing demanding something from me.
Here is what I eventually realized. That was not a discipline problem. It was not a motivation problem. It was a direction problem. And the solution was not to work harder. It was to get intentional.
Q1 was not a failure. It was information.
I want you to shift how you are looking at the last three months.
You know things right now that you did not know in January. You know what worked in your business and what did not. You know which weeks felt productive and which ones felt like survival mode. You know which goals still light you up and which ones you set out of obligation or comparison.
That is not failure. That is data. And data is one of the most powerful things you can bring into a new season.
Q2 is actually one of my favorite times to recalibrate because the new year energy has worn off and now you get to make decisions based on reality, not just hope. That is actually a really powerful place to be.
The reset framework I use every single quarter
A reset does not mean starting over from scratch. It means getting honest about where you are and choosing your next steps on purpose. Here is exactly how I do it:
-
Start by asking yourself three honest questions.
-
What do I need to stop doing?
-
What do I need to start doing?
-
And what do I need to keep doing but do differently?
-
These questions sound simple but they cut through so much noise. And they give you a really clear picture of where your energy actually needs to go.
-
Set your top three priorities for the quarter. Not twenty. Not ten. Three. Because when everything is a priority nothing is. Pick the three things that, if you focused on them between now and July, would make the biggest difference in your business and your life. Write them down somewhere you will see them every single day.
-
Do an honest time audit. Look at how you have been spending your days and ask yourself:
-
does this actually reflect my three priorities? If you are spending most of your energy on things that do not connect back to what matters most right now, that is where the adjustment needs to happen.
-
And here is the truth that changed everything for me: you do not need more hours in your day. You need more intention behind the hours you already have.
Nine months is not a little time
This exercise is the perfect time to do right now!
You still have nine months left in 2026. That is still a lot of time to get your business on track, be more efficient and intention to really hit your goals by the end of the year.
As mothers we know that the routines that worked in January, probably don’t work in April. That’s why I love these quarterly reviews because it allows us to be flexible and adapt as our seasons and rhythms change.
But remember this, those nine months are going to pass whether you are intentional about them or not. Time does not wait for us to feel ready.
So the question is not whether you have enough time. The question is what are you going to do with the time you have?
You did not start this business to burn out. You started it because something in you knew you were made for more. And I still believe that for you even on the days when you do not believe it for yourself.
This is your reset moment. Not starting over. Just choosing again. On purpose.
Your homework this week
Sit down somewhere quiet, even if that means hiding in your car or closet for ten minutes, and work through those three reset questions. Write down your top three priorities for Q2. Let that be the lens you run every decision through for the next three months.
That one exercise is going to give you more clarity than any amount of hustling ever could.
Drop a comment below and tell me: what is one thing you know you need to do differently this quarter?
You are not behind. You are recalibrating. And that is one of the most intentional things you can do.
Let’s finish 2026 on purpose.
With love and intention, Taylor
